Visitors are welcome to join a special seminar with Dr Samuel Escobar on Friday 19 March from 11.10am to 12.50pm.
Dr Samuel Escobar, the distinguished Peruvian theologian and missiologist, has agreed to speak to ETS students, staff and visitors via Zoom on the topic ‘John A. Mackay and The Other Spanish Christ in the 21st Century’.
Among his many significant contributions to missiology, Dr Escobar was a key participant in the Lausanne Congress in 1974 and helped to shape the Lausanne Covenant.
Dr John A. Mackay was a Free Church Missionary who was instrumental in founding the Colegio San Andrés school in Lima with which the Free Church of Scotland has had strong links up the present day. Mackay went on to have a significant impact on mission, theological education, and the ecumenical movement.
Here are links to some articles by Dr Escobar, including one on the legacy of John A. Mackay.
