A new academic session began at ETS on Monday 5 September, marked by the annual Opening Service at St Columba’s Free Church.

New and returning students, accompanied by family members and friends gathered for the event which included singing, an interview with the newly-appointed New Testament lecturer, Rev Ben Castaneda and short conversations with two existing students: Nathaniel Ross and Angus Macleod, both of whom are in the process of training for ministry.

The main speaker was Andy Hunter, the Scottish Director for FIEC. Taking Psalm 86 as his theme, he spoke about the importance of maintaining a wholehearted devotion to the Lord, despite the rigors and challenges of study. His message was both timely and hugely helpful.

The opening event was an encouraging beginning to a new semester into which we hope students will settle well.
