Edinburgh Theological Seminary is profoundly saddened to hear that Prof John R McIntosh passed away on Saturday 16th August.
Prof McIntosh served as minister of both the Lochgilphead and Aultbea Free Church congregations before being appointed as Professor of Church History at the Free Church College (now Edinburgh Theological Seminary) in 2005. He retired in 2017.
Rev Iver Martin, Principal of Edinburgh Theological Seminary said: “As well as knowing Prof McIntosh as a friend, I had the honour of working closely with him for several years. He was highly respected as an academic, particularly in the area of 18th and 19th century Scottish ecclesiastical history.”
We extend our deepest sympathies to his wife, Anne and their two sons, James and Donald.
Funeral details: The funeral will take place on Tuesday 2nd September at 1pm at Lairg Free Church and onward to Creich Cemetery.
